Beautiful day at the beach

Today was a beautiful day -- sunny and 78 degrees -- a great beach day! So Caroline and I headed to the beach with Erin Greiner and her kids, Will and Gavin. Caroline loved watching the waves and Will and Gavin digging in the sand. One of the videos below is of her at the beach (a little close up but I was trying to video and hold her at the same time -- you can hear her well though!). She has become very talkative and the other video is of her this morning chatting away. The other picture is of Caroline with Trent's friend from work who drove up from LA to come and visit this week.

She is getting bigger everyday and yesterday at our Mommy's class she eyed a toy of another boy that was the same as we have at home (it was a telephone rattle -- go figure!) and she made a beeline to get it. She scooted herself a good three or four feet to take the toy from him. It was the first sign that we may have a handful on our hands in the future! Enjoy the videos.

Sweet Sounds?

Over the last week, Caroline has been exploring with new sounds... some whining, some screeching and some soft sounds. We LOVE hearing her talk but some of the sounds are less pleasant than others. The video at the bottom gives a good sample. One thing is certain, she is really trying to communicate something with us! These are also some pictures of Caroline with Mommy and Daddy. A big thanks to Aunt Laurie and Uncle Crispin for babysitting Friday night so Mommy and Daddy could go out to celebrate our anniversary.

Daddy's Got a New Truck!!

Now I can't say I ever thought I would be in a family that owns a truck, but things have changed! Trent's new work "car" is a Toyota Tacoma and he loves it so all is good. He is even teaching Caroline to drive at the tender age of 5 months!

She's a Water Baby!!

It was a beautiful sunny day today so we took Caroline to Aunt Laurie and Uncle Crispin's pool for the first time. She was all smiles and no crying so we think she liked it -- good thing too because Daddy wouldn't be too happy if she wasn't a water baby! The pool was nice and warm and she loved spinning around in the water. Enjoy the pictures!

Well she has mastered rolling over so she is trying to figure out a different mode of getting around. She pulls her legs up under her bottom and really tried to move. When she figures out the arm portion, we are in big trouble!! See the video at the bottom of the blog to see her progress! And this is just a cute picture of Daddy reading to his little girl.

Weekend of Visitors!

This past weekend we had some friends in town to visit. My friend Julie and her husband Kevin came to visit from Santa Cruz and joined us along with our friends, Jeff and Andra for dinner -- we had a great time and Caroline was an angel. I was nervous that she was going to wake our overnight guests crying but she slept the entire night and they were up before she was! We also had Ken and Jessica (the one's whose wedding we went to in Boston) up for lunch on Sunday as they were in town from New York for work -- we have some great pictures with Caroline wearing the Jewish yamika from their wedding!

I have also posted another video of Caroline waking up (not very exciting but I know the grandparents will love seeing her!)

Friends and Family

Caroline has lots of people that love her right here in our own backyard and we saw a couple of them last week! Of course there is her Aunt Laurie who was over visiting and Caroline was busy watching her type on her computer. We also have a wonderful adopted grandmother, Betty, who lives very close by that we visited with. These are just a couple of photos. We are trying to teach Caroline to sit up so this is her attempt at that as well. She would prefer just to roll all over the carpet but she is making Mommy nervous because she is getting her legs up under her bottom -- I'm afraid she will be crawling before I know it! She also loves to play peek-a-boo and gets a kick out of every time.

Fourth of July

Caroline's first Fourth of July.... and she wasn't even awake to see the fireworks! We did take a boat ride with Crispin and Laurie, Kristin and Sean and their parents. She loves getting out on the water! It was a beautiful day here and we spent some time in the afternoon around the pool. Hopefully next year Caroline will be able to see the big fireworks displays!

Just like her Mommy...

When my mom found out I was having a girl, she pulled out the boxes of her favorite clothes that she had for me and my sisters. After throwing away those that had rotted and those with too many spit up stains to get out, we had a few keepers. This little onesie that Caroline is wearing is one of them... this one is for you mom!
