That Thing You Do

From being bald a year ago, Caroline has really grown quite a bit of hair. So much so that I have to put the front back in a barrette now or it hangs in her eyes. Hopefully she will have my hair thickness without so much of the curl. A little wave would be nice but we shall see. So bathtime is very fun washing the hair as there is getting to be more of it. These pictures are from some of the more enjoyable times!! I'm sure she will like these pictures when she gets older.

And how do you like all the kids in front of the refrigerator -- I think this one reads LUNCHTIME!! There is a new video at the bottom as well. In the last week, Caroline has started using everything as a telephone, from the ribbons in the drawer to the old rattles in her toybox and in this video, the drumsticks from her music set. And the new language she is speaking... I am working on trying to get it on video but it sounds a little big like a roll of the tongue and then a long sigh with a head bob meaning "did you get all of that?"

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Caroline celebrated her second Valentine's Day this year -- well really the first one she could enjoy since the last one she was 6 days old. She was decked out in red as we went to a party at my friend Sandy's house for the little kiddies. We ( or should I say I?) made a card for Daddy for Valentine's day while Caroline managed to throw the little hearts all over the floor along with the other one year olds. It was a fun day complete with flowers from my Valentine and a dinner at our friends house!

Sweet Caroline is One!!

Caroline celebrated her first birthday this weekend in a grand way.... 40 of her closest friends (well about 10 of her little friends and 30 of Mommy and Daddy's friends) at the clubhouse in our neighborhood. It was an amazing day -- sunny and 75 degrees so she enjoyed a bike ride in the morning, a nice nap and then the big party. She was the star of the show as everyone sang "Happy Birthday" and she clapped. The cake was a different story -- she loved putting her hands in it and smearing the icing but didn't really love the taste (is this my child???). It definitely made for some good laughs -- sorry that I did not get it on my camera video -- only on the big videocamera so I can't show it on the blog. But enjoy the pictures... I did, however, tape her with some of her new toys. Notice her great standing skill. Hard to believe that it has already been a year. Where does the time go???

Busy Day

Yesterday, Caroline and I had a very busy day. She was busy destroying the house as I was trying to clean it up! I have posted two videos at the bottom. She has learned to open our cabinets so the majority of them are locked -- the one she found yesterday had her stash of old bottles and you would have thought that she found a pot of gold. It kept her busy for a good hour! The second video is just of her playing and talking. She seems to made up her own language that only she can understand so this is just an example. Enjoy!

Like Mother, Like Daughter

I think they call it karma. As most of you know, until I was almost 20 I almost never ate green foods aside from Chocolate Mint ice cream. Now I eats lots of vegetables. But what a time my mom must have had trying to feed me. Now my sweet little Caroline is my karma coming back to get me.... she is a very picky eater as evidenced by the video at the bottom. She loves toasted cheese, macaroni and cheese, plain cheese, bread, etc. -- a child after my own heart. And she does like certain other food items including peas, bananas, apples, sweet potatoes to name a few, but only if they are prepared a certain way, ughhhh!! And so meal time is not always the most relaxing time of the day. I can just picture my mom now saying, "Girls, I spent all this time making this dinner...." I have a feeling I will be repeating those same words!

And, just like her mommy, Caroline loves to read, well actually look at books. She can spend a good ten to fifteen minutes (that is a long time in baby life) looking at the animals on the pages, turning the pages, crawling with the book or just pulling new ones out. All of this after her snack and milk. It is very cute!

Lastly, this outside shot is a view from our neighborhood looking at the snow on the surrounding mountains, gorgeous!

A Day in the Life...

These videos and pictures are just a day in the life with Caroline. She has become quite the busybody lately and her favorite activities include:
1. Riding the bike with Daddy of course-- she doesn't even mind the helmet!

2. Pointing at everything -- the birds, the airplanes, the construction workers and everything else that goes on in the neighborhood.

3. The stairs -- she would go up them all day long if I would let her -- hmmm, maybe I should then she would nap longer -- just a thought.

4. Destruction -- she climbs on everything from the trashcans, to Daddy's office equipment, the fireplace, the coffee table, you name it -- she is very busy.

The house has now officially become Caroline's house as she is everywhere -- it is exciting to see the house through her eyes -- who knew we had so many exciting things??

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone!! Hard to believe that a year ago at this time we were on pins and needles waiting for Caroline's arrival and now, here she is, crawling all over the house!! Where has the time gone?? The new year (and Xmas) has brought new toys and lots of new skills. Caroline now crawls on her hands and knees and since she mastered the stairs a couple of months ago, it is her favorite thing to do... looks like we need to get some gates. I have posted a couple of videos below just to show what a day in the life is like. Her new walker toy is more like a slot machine to Caroline as you will see in the video below and her dance moves may need a little work from her Uncle Crispin (for now she just has the shake your bum down pat!).

We also put some butterflies up in her room above her crib along with her name that was painted by Grandma Jan and Aunt Katie. Enjoy the pictures and videos!!
